MAKING THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART A WORLD CLASS INSTITUTION

Andrew Mellon and John Russell Pope initiated the building and enlarging of the National Gallery of Art. Imagine collecting, designing, building, and enlarging a major art museum between 1920 and today, a museum that today represents our entire country. We’ll see how this transpired and filled the landscape with works by Rousseau, Toulouse Lautrec, Miro, Vuillard, Henry Moore, DeKooning, and Picasso. Ruth Herman Cohen has been instructing adults for over 25 years with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
