This interdisciplinary course draws on the new field of Emotional Intelligence (EI) to foster a better understanding of literature and the human desires and dilemmas that literature highlights and reflects. Exploring the emotions of the characters we read about, and studying the literary strategies the authors use to convey these emotions, will bring us to a deeper understanding not only of literature--but also of real life. A booklet of short stories and materials about EI will be distributed in class.
